First Bariatric Surgery Performed at Heritage Medical Center

Thursday, April 9, 2009 –
“Today is a very exciting day at Heritage Medical Center as well as for our 1st bariatric patient,” commented Wayne Westmoreland, MD, FACS, following the first-ever bariatric procedure performed at HMC. “Bariatric surgery allows an individual to have another chance at having a better life and sometimes a “new” lifestyle. The excitement of a new beginning is contagious and permeates every member of the team involved with the care of these complicated patients,” continued Westmoreland.  Bariatric surgery offers a resolution to some co-morbidity health issues by not only increasing a patient’s life expectancy, but their quality of life as well.
