The Rehabilitation Department of Heritage Medical Center offers a wide range of both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. The department is staffed with a Physical Therapist, a Physical Therapist Assistant, an Occupational Therapist, and a Speech Therapist. Offering a continuum of care is vital to our patients. Our licensed staff sees patients preoperatively, during the acute hospitalization, and as outpatients.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy at Heritage Medical Center offers a wide range of both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services designed to enhance the functional independence of each patient. These services include:
- Orthopedic, Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation
- Splinting
- Adaptive Equipment Education
- Energy Conservation/Work Simplification Training
- Home Management Retraining
- Hand/Upper Extremity Rehabilitation, including fractures, crush injuries, and cumulative trauma disorders
- Functional Capacity Evaluation
Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy at Heritage Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for patients needing to regain speech following an injury or health event such as a stroke. Speech therapists also work with patients who have difficulty in swallowing and/or cognitive deficits and memory problems. Patients may receive training in the following:
- Voice
- Dysphagia (swallowing disorders)
- Fluency disorders
- Articulation/phonology
- Language disorders
- Pediatrics
Patients are referred to the rehabilitation department by a physician and must have a signed prescription for therapy. The rehabilitation department is open extended hours for your convenience. Please call the department at (931) 685-5575 to schedule an appointment. Pre-registration is available and encouraged. Remember to dress comfortably for your appointment. Persons with knee or back injuries may wish to bring shorts for the examination process.
